Inspiring Art and Writing

So, I created this awesome commemorative poster (at least I think it’s awesome)! It was designed with the intention of only printing a limited amount. This was for purchase and the proceeds went to providing scholarships for students wanting to pursue a degree in art or writing. It was a fun project to work on.

The poster was created with Illustrator and InDesign.

Fun fact: Andy Warhol was a past winner

RAW: Natural Born Artist

So, I received a call from someone who saw my cards on ETSY.  They asked me to be a RAW artist.  How cool is that?  I’m super excited to be a part of a community full of amazing local artists in different genres!

Check them out here.

Thanks and keep checking back for updates!

The Magnificent Bloom!

Nature is beautiful!

We have a cactus in the front of our house which
only blooms during a certain time of year (now) and
only for a short time. It amazes me how it gets more
and more buds every year. It’s like a human being who
grows and grows as they get older with every birthday.

Cactus Flower

The next day……

Bam! And there you go, I got to see the bloom.
It is a spectacular piece of nature. All the buds
turned into opened flowers. Bee heaven. Beautiful!

Shrimp Cocktail Anyone?

Over the weekend I made this delicious shrimp cocktail.
I will be making it again soon.  It was a big hit in our household.

Authentic Shrimp Cocktail

(The story behind it all)
I grew up in a small town and there was this place called El Sinaloense.  They had the best shrimp cocktail I have ever eaten!  I moved away and have always been on the lookout for something that compares.  I have not been able to find a place that makes it the same way as it was in my hometown.  So, I decided to make my own.  Here you go!

  • 2 lbs of jumbo shrimp
  •  1 red bell pepper
  • 2 cucumbers
  • 4 large avocados
  • 1 large purple onion
  • a large handful of cilantro
  • 3 fresh jalapenos
  • 2 serrano peppers
  • 6 limes
  • 2 small cartons of tomatoes
  • 3 teaspoons of horseradish
  • 4 dashes of worchestershire sauce
  • 5 dashes of tabasco sauce
  • 5 dashes of hot sauce
  • 1 cup of ketchup
  • 1.5 cups of orange juice
  • 4 cups of clamato juice
  • 2 cups of V8 regular vegetable juice
  • garlic, salt, and pepper to taste
That’s it. ENJOY!
